Jasmine Sahd

Jasmine Sahd, is a versatile performer at home in opera, musical theatre, new music, and recording work. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Eastern New Mexico University and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she also completed a Professional Studies Certificate focused on new works by living composers. A dedicated advocate for new music, Jasmine has performed composer Jake Heggie’s one-woman opera At the Statue of Venus and maintains an ongoing collaboration with composer Natasha Frank, BMI Composer Award winner and two-time BAFTA scholar, having debuted Frank’s piece “The Death of Ophelia” as part of SFCM’s Future is Female concert series, celebrating composers who are women and of marginalized genders.

Recent stage work includes Magenta in The Rocky Horror Show with Albuquerque Little Theater, Miriam in The Prince of Egypt and covering Clara in The Light in the Piazza with Musical Theatre Southwest, plus chorus roles in Opera Southwest’s Dolores and Mosè in Egitto. Other credits include La Princesse in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, La Fortuna and Pallade in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea with SFCM, Mother in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Roswell Symphony Orchestra, and productions of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast with Way Way Off Broadway. Her roots go back to Caroline Neville in Titanic! The Musical and Rona Lisa Peretti in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with ENMU. She’s even taken the stage with School of Rock Albuquerque’s Instructor Band, covering songs by Coheed and Cambria, Paramore, and Hail the Sun. For Jasmine, the best part of performing is the variety of people she meets and works with

Kitsunene

Hi there, I’m Kitsunene, veteran cosplayer extraordinaire! I’ve been cosplaying for around 20 years (literally half my life!) and have a background in garment manufacturing, bridal, and leatherwork.

I’ve won several awards over the years for craftsmanship, and take pride in my ever growing skill set. From full sets of maid cafe uniforms to incredible light up suits, and ball gowns with enough room to fit four people under the hoop skirt l, I’ve learned it all and love sharing my knowledge with anyone else willing to learn! The one thing I have yet to master is my social media skills, but please don’t let the lack of that scare you off! I’m a wizard at pattern manipulation, and expert at detailing and a hardcore believer of “where there’s a will, there’s a way”. So come by and say hi, I’m always excited to nerd out with fellow fans!

Miss. C. Cosplay

Y’all! My name is Miss.C.Cosplay! I am an educator and cosplayer in the Western area. I am passionate about helping other people learn to build and create their own amazing cosplays with their own genius hands. Here at Iro Con I will be teaching two panels about cosplay creation and planning, as well as one hands on decoden panel!

I started cosplaying when I was a wee lad at about 12 years old. I spent many years armed with only my glue gun and my mom’s guidance. During that time I bopped around New Mexico cons and took a few awards home, such as masters runner up at Sabaku back in what must have been 2019, right before my hiatus.

I stepped away for about four or five years when my mom first got sick, and in that time I had to relearn how to create in a way that channeled my love, and most importantly, my grief. Cosplay is an art form like any other fiber art, with the ability to open your mind and heart to healing. There’s really something about sitting there hemming a shirt for six hours that gets you right up in your own head.

When I finally returned, I had an incredible time reconnecting with the community at local conventions like Sabaku, where I recently took Best in show with a Rose Quartz cosplay dedicated to the most giant woman in my life: my mama.

Come hang out, vent, plan the build for your next project, or learn to wrestle that damn iron with yours truly.
